Lorraine Beavers, MP for Blackpool North, Cleveleys & Fleetwood has confirmed the Chair of the Pride in Fleetwood panel.

The panel will oversee the allocation of funding, £2m per year over 10 years on projects based in the Pharos and Mount wards which benefit the Fleetwood community.

Lorraine says, "I am so excited to announce that Dr Mark Spencer is chair of the Pride in Fleetwood board! Following some brilliant applications & interviews, Mark was chosen to be our chair.

Mark's first job is to set up the Pride in Fleetwood board.

If you're interested in being a member, please send expressions of interest (up to 400 words) by 10am 19th January 2026.

Board members must:

  • Work or live in Fleetwood

  • Prioritise community voices at all times

  • Be committed to attending a minimum of one board meeting per month

We want the board to represent the community of Fleetwood so specific details on time commitments & meetings will be developed by the board. We hope that this creates an inclusive board that truly represents the voice of Fleetwood's community.

Expressions of interest from young people, local parents, residents of Pharos & Mount wards, and people with lived experience of poverty, disability, and LGBTQIA+, are encouraged.

Mark has lived in Fleetwood and is a local GP. He's been involved in multiple community projects over the years and has a great understanding of project management. Mark's work and life in Fleetwood also mean he has developed a real understanding of the challenges our community faces, knowledge that will be vital in ensuring this money is used to improve the lives of people in our town."
