WORK UNDERWAY ON NEW YOUTH HUB

Fleetwood Town Community Trust are thrilled to have been appointed as the delivery provider for the renovated Youth Hub at the former NHS Fleetwood Hospital.

The Community Trust will provide a six day-a-week service for young people to access youth provision through both targeted and universal offerings.

The project expected to launch in June 2024 will host new opportunities for young people aged 11-17 years old (up to 24 for those with additional needs), rightly providing a sense of optimism and enhanced aspiration. The initiative will also bring new jobs into the town with further details in the coming months.

Fleetwood Town Community Trust CEO, John Hartley explained, "We are delighted to have been asked to be the delivery partner for this exciting project. Young people are our future and it's imperative that we provide them with the knowledge, tools and resources to aspire to achieve anything they put their mind to. The Hub provides a safe space for young people to socialise, which we believe will begin to echo across reducing levels of youth anti-social behaviour in the area.

Young people have been at the front of the project, from its infancy through consultation periods held with Fleetwood-based mental health professional Liz Loftus, to the finer design details more recently with the project's architects, Mason Gillibrand Architects. This is their space to use to their advantage."

Fleetwood Trust CEO, Charley Wilkinson added, "We are absolutely delighted to be working with Fleetwood Town Community Trust to be bringing new and more activities and facilities for young people in the town to do. It's such an exciting time for ourselves at the Trust to be successful in getting the funding to develop the space and we can't wait to show the finished space in late May. Fleetwood Town Community Trust was an obvious choice for ourselves and to keep the activities and opportunities local".

The allocated space lends itself to provide engaging an interactive place for teens to take part in purposeful activities whilst having planned computer suites, kitchen and social spaces.
